  1. Sarah P. says:

Nice and clean beach around town. Not many people around. Little hidden, carpark is at the end of the road and has got a shower to rinse off!

  2. Ian Johnston says:

Loved it and it was overcast and sprinkling with rain…

  3. mjail5 says:

We only visited Tarcoola Beach as The African Reef where we were staying overnight before our road trip to Coral Bay was situated just 200ms away.
We had to walk over a dune to get to the beach but the family had a fabulous time with the waves. Had to walk quite a distance out to sea though.

  4. Dan L says:

It was so windy that my wife got back in the car. I braved the climb through the dune to the beach on Glendinning Road near Sandown Close. Lots of seaweed on the beach and I quickly retreated from the sandblasting to the relative calm on the other side of the dune.

  5. KBNZ666 says:

I was staying at a motel on the beachfront and went for walks along this beach. It reminded me so much of my home town beaches in NZ. Pity we don’t have long stretches of surf beach like this in Perth. The waves were huge when I was there and there was lots of interesting corals and sponges washed up onto the sand.

  6. JElliot32 says:

Only visited this beach because it was located not far from our motel. It is a long strand of nice sand, though not much in the way of surf when we visited. However, there was an abundance of seaweed and a group of schoolkids appeared to having a great deal of fun diving and doing somersaults into this – still in their school uniforms, too. Otherwise, the beach was not getting a lot of use, aside from the dog walkers (with pooches both on and off leash). We walked and walked till we found a sand hill that provided a breathtaking view of the sunset.

  7. ozcan1 says:

This three-kilometre beach stretches from the caravan park in the north, to Southgates in the south. On a fine, windless (rare) day, its a pleasant beach, where it’s surprisingly possible to walk for some time without spotting another beachgoer. Renewing our acquaintance with this once very familiar beachscape, we noted several changes, but thankfully nothing major, since leaving Geraldton nearly three decades ago.

There’s some restorative dune revegetation, a new car park or two, a dual-use cycle/footpath, some new signage and a cluster of new oceanfront homes; while adjacent Glendinning Park now boasts family-friendly amenities it lacked in the eighties.

It’s a pleasant beach or pathway stroll, even in cooler July weather. Swimming and body-surfing is enjoyable too, especially when the water is weedless and less sand-churned… .

Tip: Fishing the southerly shores at night in warm weather can produce some excellent mulloway. In past years I’ve caught ‘kingies’ too large to transport on a motorcycle here… and once lost an all-night battle with a mighty fish which spooled me, destroying the gears of my Mitchell 489 reel in the process…
